Live stock market updates: Markets broke off the day’s lows in late noon trading as US futures gained ground. The BSE Sensex was down 500 points around the 56,855 odd level; while the NSE Nifty hovered around 17,050.

Among Sensex-30 shares, Bajaj Finance fell 5% despite strong net profit growth of 80% year on year (YoY) to Rs 2,420 crore for the fourth quarter that ended March 2022 (Q4FY22). READ MORE

Bajaj Finserv, ICICI Bank, Wipro, SBI, Tech Mahindra and Dr. Reddy’s were the main laggards among Sensex 30 shares, slipping as much as 3.5%.

On the other hand, Reliance Industries grew by 1%, the company today became the first Indian company to cross the Rs 19 trillion mark. READ MORE

In broader markets, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices were also down more than 1% each. Of 3,337 stocks traded so far, 2,306 fell and 923 advanced on BSE.

On a sector basis, BSE FMCG, Healthcare, Financials, Bankex, IT, Telecoms, Automotive, Capital Goods, Metals, Oil & Gas, Power and real estate fell by around 1 to 1.5% each.

Among other actions, Mahindra Logistics jumped more than 10% daily after the company posted a 2.8% decline in Q4FY22 net profit to Rs 12.23 crore from Rs 12.58 crore in Q4FY21. Total revenue, however, increased by 10.2% to Rs 1,078.37 crore from Rs 978.56 crore.
