VANCOUVER, BC, October 8, 2021 / CNW / – On October 9, 2021, Sahaja Yoga Canada will be celebrating its fortieth year, having started in Vancouver, to October 9, 1981. To commemorate this milestone, free online meditation programs will be broadcast on YouTube (youtube.com/c/sahajayogaca) from saturday 9 october, To 3:30 p.m. PDT/6:30 p.m. EDT and continues every Saturday until November 6e. The programs will highlight the life and work of the Founder, Her Holiness Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, and introduce Sahaja Yoga meditation. These are free public programs open to anyone who wishes to attend.

Following each of the Saturday YouTube meditation programs, additional free online meditation classes will be streamed live during the week. Details will be announced in the October 9e program online, through local Facebook accounts, the official Sahaja Yoga Facebook account (https://www.facebook.com/SahajaYogaCanada) and on the Sahaja Yoga Canada website (sahajayoga.ca/).

Sahaja Yoga had humble beginnings forty years ago, when HH Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi , organized the first public program in Vancouver introduce his unique method of meditation to Canadians. Since then, Sahaja Yoga has flourished everywhere Canada with many weekly online classes held across the country and many people benefiting from the awakening of their spiritual nature.

Speaking in an interview conducted on October 9, 1981, to that of Vancouver Morning Radio CJOR with host Rafe Mair, HH Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi commented on Canada and America, saying that, “… in these countries we alone feel that there are people who will take responsibility for spiritual ascension.”

HH Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi came to Canada several times, visiting Toronto and Vancouver to spread His vision of a world of peaceful, balanced and enlightened people and to establish Sahaja Yoga meditation centers throughout the country.

Beyond Canada, Sahaja Yoga is an internationally recognized movement, operating in over 100 countries around the world. All over the world, HH Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi ensured that the very important Sahaja Yoga meditation centers were established in the countries and cities where She visited. She also built hospitals, schools, music and art academies, shelters for destitute women and children, all based on the practice of Sahaja Yoga meditation. For his work in these areas, HH Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi received the United Nations Peace Medal and was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Sahaja Yoga meditation classes are always offered free of charge by the Vishwa Nirmala Dharma Educational Society, a registered charity in Canada.
