With 841% increase in French fries orders last year, Skip and HEINZ® dive deep into the data with Chef’s expert chord suggestions Thomas heitz
WINNIPEG, MB, July 12, 2021 / CNW / – Canadians placed over 5 million orders for fries last year on SkipTheDishes, and those fries got soaked in a lot of gravy. On the occasion of National French Fries Day the July 13, Skip and HEINZ® share stats on what Canadians have soaked in their fries the most.
HEINZ® Ketchup still reigns supreme among Canadians, with nearly 2.5 million different bottles sold in stores across Canada in the month of July alone of last year!
On the Skip Network, ketchup was also a favorite, ordered alongside more than 150,000 French fries orders last year, just behind mayo.
Ontario took first place in 2020, placing more than 730,000 orders for traditional fries, with Alberta and BC completing the first three.
Sweet potato fries, aka yam fries, were ordered 70,000 times last year, with curly fries and waffle fries accounting for over 171,000 orders!
Don’t forget our national treasure, poutine! This iconic comfort food was ordered over 3.4 million times on the Skip Network last year alone
As entrepreneur of the Kraft Heinz Company and Kitchen 57 in Toronto, Chief Thomas heitz is responsible for more than 200 brands and product innovations. And with over 25 years of hospitality and education experience, he knows a thing or two about which sauces work best with all of these varieties of fries.
“Canadians grew up on HEINZ® Ketchup and we know it’s a household staple, but we love to play with bold and edgy flavors,” Heitz says. “Kitchen 57 is our test kitchen where we can connect directly with customers on Skip and try out some of our more adventurous sauces to keep up with changing tastes and flavors.”
If you’re wondering what to do with all those sauces in your fridge, Chef Thomas has his best pairings to explore on National Fry Day:
When it comes to classic fries, only OG sauce will do. Chef Thomas recommends sticking to classic HEINZ® ketchup.
If you venture beyond the classics we know and love with waffles or fried fries, Chef Thomas suggests one of the HEINZ®‘s new Crowdsauced creations inspired by Canadians: Tarchup, Wasabioli or Hanch.
Did you think we’d forget poutine, Canada’s most famous French fries export known throughout the world? Chef Thomas recommends giving it a twist by adding Mayoracha or Wasabioli for an Asian-style poutine instead of the sauce.
Have a good dive!
