Since the Camon series of phones were launched in the Kenyan market, they have been identified as the first camera phone. Essentially, the camera is the phone’s biggest selling point and the guys at Tecno haven’t disappointed their loyal fans as they’ve upped their game with every release.
As such, it’s no surprise that they started winning awards because of their research and development in photography. These guys won the 2020 Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) Championship award for the Dark Complexion Portrait Segmentation Challenge.
With that in mind, I have to say that I had high expectations for the cameras on this phone. I can say with pleasure that I was not disappointed as the cameras met and exceeded my expectations.
The camera setup includes a dual selfie camera that comes with a 48MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor for those group selfies. camera and a 2MP depth sensor.
The phone comes with four cameras on the back, namely a 64 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, a 2 MP dedicated video camera and a 2 MP depth sensor.
The cameras produce dynamic range and solid detail even in low light conditions thanks to their new technology called Tecno AI Vision Optimization Solution (TAIVOS ™). This made the images clearer and essentially improved night photography.

As for the videos, the cameras can shoot in 4K, which guarantees you very sharp videos. In low light condition, the phone has ultra night video shooting mode which allows users to get brighter video shooting experience.
Selfie cameras are punched on the left screen. They contain an impressive 48 main camera with f / 2.2 aperture and a second 8 megapixel camera with f / 2.2 aperture.
The 8 MP ultra-wide camera allows the phone to automatically switch to group mode in case we take a group selfie – something I found interesting. Overall, the selfies are crisp and detailed which I loved as I’m not really the selfie type.
